Day 1 with no heater
Wow, you don’t realise how much you need a heater until you don’t have one. We’ve only been surviving without our heater for 20 hours now and I can tell you with absolute certainty that it’s twenty hours too long. I can feel my fingers tingling because I’m so cold. They say your fingers are the first things to fall off when you’re cold don’t they? Maybe that’s an old wives tale. I don’t know. All I know is that we need to get our heater repaired as soon as possible.
Day 6 with no heater
My family and I are starting to really struggle. We’ve been huddling together every opportunity we get to try and keep each other warm. I’m starting to wish that we didn’t choose to homeschool my children. At least if they could go to an actual school, they could be warm. I wonder if it’s possible to organise a ducted heating service. Canberra technicians are in high demand at the moment because of the crazy cold snap that has completely overtaken Canberra. I can’t get in contact with anyone. At this point, we might freeze.
Day 14 with no heater
We have somehow managed to survive two weeks with no heating. Don’t ask me how because I’m truly not sure, but if I had to guess, I’d say it’s the love two parents have for their children. No part of us wants our children to freeze to death and we certainly don’t want to freeze to death ourselves. This is truly survival of the fittest. I’ve had confirmation from the heating repairs technician local to Canberra that they will be able to get to us in the coming days. They couldn’t put an exact time frame on it because the demand is so high, but they promised they’d get to us one way or the other. Please be soon.
